Elections Unit Study

I can’t believe this has already been almost 4 years ago!!!!!! How can that be?  This is a copy of a post I did on another blog.  I thought I would repost as elections are coming closer.  How’d all that change do for us?

This is us at the County Seat. We had a surprisingly fun day, my mom came with us, too. After going to see the Courthouse and elections fiasco, we went into downtown and had some yummy ice cream and did a little antique shopping for Maya’s birthday. The boys got marbles. KK REALY wanted an old tiny iron. I might go back and get it for him, not sure though. It was great for the boys to see all the ballots in the counting room and to understand the process, I sure learned a lot. They (the counters) seem to do a great job and take their business super seriously Now, are we REALLY going to see change for the better in our USA? Hope so!

So, we had a fun unit study on the election. Kyler made a lapbook about all that he learned, he did a great job with it. We also went to the County seat so they could see how the ballots are counted and the hooplah surrounding the election. It was all very interesting and the people were great, taking extra time to explain everything to the kids and to me, too.
