What a great day, it was cold and long, but so good! We left home around 7:00 and fueled up and went to say goodbye to my mom. We were on our way out of town at about 7:30. We stopped for lunch around 1:00 and a cold rest stop. I was glad that I had premade sandwiches so we didn’t have to stop in the cold for too long. We listened to lots of Secret Garden and the kids played on their ipods and other devices, which we actually allowed them to do. That is unusual for us, but it worked out great because they enjoyed the priveledge.
Then at about 4:00 near Ashland, I had an amazing idea! Normally we stay at a hotel this first night, just because of the cold and so the kids can swim and we can get some excersize. As Isaac says, to shake a leg. But we knew we were not going to do that his year as we are on a tighter budget. But, we called the Yreka YMCA to see if we can use their facilities and park in their lot overnight. They said as long as we have a member card we can come for free! So, we got to play basketball, run on the tredmill, take showers and everything! The kids played pool and fooseball while I came out and made dinner. Voila! A great evening. For food, we had some Trader Joe’s chicken fried rice and pot stickers. They were great an super easy. I chopped some green onions and cilantro to put on top. Yummy.
Now Isaac is reading aloud Harry Potter to the kids and I am about to cuddle Maya.
